Straw Men Arguments Used to Promote
Sanctuary Status and Amnesty in Maryland
CASA of Maryland, the taxpayer funded illegal alien support group, with help from most of Maryland’s federal, state and local elected officials, continues to push for continued sanctuary status and total amnesty for all residing without legal presence in our state. CASA, the local affiliate of the National Council of La Raza, uses many of the flawed arguments below when discussing immigration issues. Maryland’s citizens should be aware of the disinformation be disseminated by our elected officials, CASA of Maryland, Catholic Charities, Centro Familia, Identity Inc. and other illegal alien support groups.  Click here to read more-->>

NEW PROGRAM - HSM's CITIZENS HOTLINE & REFERRAL SERVICE!

Help Save Maryland is formally announcing our new "Legal Help Hotline & Referral Service" for those negatively impacted by illegal immigration.  This new program was briefly discussed at the June 22 HSM Town Hall Meeting.

Please carefully read the following 3 paragraphs:

*   Have you or someone you know been hurt or hindered because of
zoning violations related to the presence of illegal immigrants?
(parking, fire safety, multi-family occupancy, declining property value,
unlicensed food vending, property management and landlord-tenant issues)

*   Are you a business owner or do you know of a business owner who
has been hurt or disadvantaged because you/they follow the law and
refuse to hire illegal workers and your competitors hire illegal
workers?  (competitive injury/unfair competition)

*   Have you or someone you know been hurt or hindered because your
employer hired illegal workers and laid you off, reduced your hours,
reduced your income, or terminated your employment contract because it
was cheaper for them or "less hassle" for them to hire illegal
immigrants?

If you have information regarding the above, please contact HSM.

We are in the process of setting up a phone line to handle calls.  Until that phone number is announced, please e-mail HSM with your concerns or comments at bb67chev@aol.com  We will get back to you ASAP.  Maryland's citizens can and will fight back!

E-mail Received by HSM

Every so often we receive an e-mail from a disgruntled person. The latest from Eduardo de Ron Santiago titled "You should be ashamed" was classic. Eduardo wrote -" If you are going to put up this type of website, you should at least try to put truthful information in it. I hope you fail."

Eduardo, here is some "truthful information" for you to contemplate:

  • Help Save Maryland is not failing. In fact, we have doubled our membership over the past year and will continue to grow across Maryland with our expanded educational outreach programs and newly granted non-profit status.
Actions by Help Save Maryland members and partner organizations have led to:
  • Strengthening Montgomery County Police procedures for screening the immigration status of violent criminals;
  • Stopping legislative attempts in Annapolis by CASA of Maryland and their supporters to provide In-State Tuition to illegal alien students;
  • Ending Maryland's dangerous policy of granting drivers' licenses to those without "legal presence" in Maryland;
  • Limiting Annapolis bond funding for the questionable financing activities of the Latino Economic Development Corporation; Large numbers of HSM members testified on a variety of proposed bills introduced during the 2009 session in Annapolis.
  • Hosting a successful "Making Maryland Safe for Citizens" rally in Annapolis, sponsoring a number of citizens' rallies at various taxpayer funded illegal alien Day Laborer Centers and Maryland MVA sites providing licenses without legal presence, as well as a running series of educational town hall meetings with Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins and Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch.
  • Partnering with organizations including Citizens for Change in Prince George's County, Citizens for Responsible Government, Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum, Montgomery Citizens for a Safer Maryland, Citizens' First and others. Joining and Supporting Tea Party Taxpayer Events across Maryland
  • Creating and distributing "A Business Owner's Guide to Illegal Immigration", Montgomery County Edition, as a public service resource.
  • Filing a Maryland Public Information Act Request, with assistance from the Immigration Reform Law Institute, in all 24 Maryland jurisdictions to help counter the intimidation by the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Maryland regarding local government compliance with federal immigration laws.

ACTION ALERT

On January 16, 2009, the Immigration Law Reform Institute (ILRI) of Washington, DC, on behalf of Help Save Maryland, filed a Maryland Public Information Act (MPIA) request with 24 Maryland jurisdictions. This filing piggybacks an earlier filing by the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation of Maryland (ACLU-MD). You can read the letter here.

WELCOME

Help Save Maryland.com is a grassroots organization dedicated to preserving Maryland’s counties, cities and towns from the negative effects of illegal aliens. Help Save Maryland.com fosters public awareness and education, facilitates effective engagement by citizens in the Maryland legislative process, and provides an effective voice for citizens frustrated by our out-of-touch Maryland politicians.

Join fellow citizens as we fight to eliminate the use of our tax-dollars on programs and services for illegal aliens in Maryland. Let’s work together to end Maryland’s lawless sanctuary status at the state and local level. Help us achieve the following goals:

Help Save Maryland.com welcomes as members all U.S. citizens and legal residents of any ethnic heritage who believe that the presence of illegal aliens in Maryland poses an unacceptable economic burden and physical threat to our communities and families, and must be opposed in a manner consistent with the law and due respect for the inherent worth of all individuals.

If you want to engage in these issues in a reasonable manner, I encourage you to join us. Together we can make a difference. Please fill out the membership form and mail to:
